i have a 95 model sport 4x4 with a terrible miss. it actually lopes like it has a big cam in it. when i unplug the ect sensor the engine idles up to about 1200rpm and smooths out. i have tested all the sensors, checked fuel psi, cant find any vaccume leaks, and it isnt throwing any engine related codes. the only codes i am getting are for an a/c clutch relay and aux fan relay. when i test the realys they both check out fine but the ac doesnt kick on and neither does the aux fan. it also has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor, and ect sensor.

i would stary by checking wiring and condition of your coolant. i have a 98 i am working on right now that has rusty coolant, not letting the engine not getting to normal operating temp, causing a rich condition. also check your thermostat. make sure it is a 195 degree and i recommend you getting it from the dealer. good luck!---BRIAN

ive been thru all the wiring , checked all the grounds, and it actually has a new radiator, water pump, and thermostat. im so frustrated with it now i might just drag it over to a mechanic and pay $100 bucks to have it diagnosed.

I'm gonna go on a limb here and assume ect= engine coolant temp.

what happens when you unplug the map and IAT sensors?
What about the Throttle postion sensor? does it shift normally even though it is idling rough?
does it smooth out when you just press the accelerator and increase the RPMs?
Is this problem what made you replace the ect in the first place, or did it start with the new sensor?

What you have said leads me to think that the sensor you installed is either the incorrect one or defective, can you test it with a multimeter and a pot of boiling water?
