I'd recommend this to any of you adrenaline junkies! It was tits! :greensmok

My top avg lap was 46.6 seconds (1.5 mile track) @ 119 mph. I'm guesstimating the top speed I reached on back straight away was 140ish, floored and at 5K on the tach. They had rev limiters on them set at 6K and the instructors would hit them. During the hot laps (wife and boy took) and 5 instructor laps with students they were doing 170mpg.

I wouldn't mind driving one of those around if they would let me hot lap it. Damn that would be fun! Atlanta is a "all-out" track, push it to the floor and hold on!

As for NASCAR, not a fan anymore, I gave up when JJ/JG took over and turned it into a sport dominated by women. I haven't watched a raced in 5 years.

I got the chance back in the 90's to take my 87 LX 5.0 coupe Mustang around Charlotte. I averaged 130 with a street legal car but the suspension was not stock and neither was the 5.0. I was afraid to push it any further and I ran out of balls at the mid 130's. The car had more than the driver!

This was part of Buck Backer class and my wife got a great deal on GroupOn. For the 5/10 it was like $140. They're suppose to do another GroupOn soon.

So in the 5 and 10 you get to do 10 laps as the driver. Trust me after a few laps I was all into the throttle on the back stretch, let up on turns a bit and back into it 3/4 way through them. They have solo packages without instructor in the car but you have to work your way up to that.......

Thats a good deal!

My mother-in-law wants to do this before she is too old. Even at 72 she handles a car better than most much younger men. She should have been a stock car racer! The last time I followed her through NC I was running well over 100 on I40 east trying to keep up and she was laughing her a$$ off!

She called me on my cell and asked, "Whats wrong, cant keep with the old battle axe!":(

So, the instructor sat shotgun with you? In the one my dad and I did, we had a pace car in front of us and communicated by radio. As long as we kept up with him, he'd go faster. I think my top speed was 134mph, I think my dad's was 136mph. I've got my certificate somewhere. LOL Oh, and I got to drive DJ's actual retired UPS cup car. :D

Cool Matt! Yeah I would've prefered radios. I think there were a lot of GroupOn customers so it was on the cheap I guess??? The drive fully solo deals are more expensive which I want to do. I'm sure I was near 140 on the back straight away. 119 was the whole lap average but the instructors wanted me to back down into the turns. To much IMO! LOL!

I got a chance to do the Richard Petty driving experience at the Nashville Speedway several years ago. It was the beginners class so we didn't get over 120 mph. We followed the pace car. Definately a ton of fun!

The funniest part was shoehorning my 360 lb butt (at the time) in those tight cars. There is a reason big boys don't race in those cars. I was the only guy wearing a two piece suit.

I did that one at the Walt Disney Speedway about 8 or 9 years ago. It was a blast.

We did the follow the leader deal where if you could hold a line the pro would push you some. It is a shorter track so we only hit speeds in the mid-120s.

The two things I remember most was how quiet it seemed in the car. Quiet enough you could hear the gravel hit the undercarriage on the apron in the corners, and that it was so powerful that I thought I only hit about 85 mph. It felt, pushing 125, the same as my Grand Prix GTP did pushing 80+.

Hell of a lot of fun, and I would love to do it again.

If you haven't done it watch for the GroupOn. Your allowed to pick the track you want to attend so they're all over the SouthEast.

Hey! Look!!! He's making a LEFT turn!!! :)

I wouldn't mind the go fast for a lap or two.

These cars are setup with larger tires on the outside and camber setup where they almost steer themselves. It's sort of like driving on snow and ice, you don't want to make any sudden corrections.

I used to joke about the whole "all they do is left turns", then my wife bought me a driving experience package. Something like 8 laps. It was an awesome experience and opened my eyes to the amount of concentration it takes to keep it "turning left".

I can't imagine the G's a 300 mph dragster would impose on the body! I'd do it 2 though! At least once! :greensmok

I'm more of a go fast in a straight line kinda guy. I would LOVE to drive a Top Fuel Dragster once. 300mph in 3 seconds seems pretty damn fun!

X2

I can do 120+ on my bike. I'd love to feel the G's of a top fuel dragster off the line.
