The rant:
Live in a suburb of Okalhoma City. I take good care of my property. I have a two car driveway on which I park my XJ, my DD Volvo and my wife's car. Next to the driveway I parked a 77 F150 that needed engien work. I get a notice from the city that it can not be parked inteh grass. I decide, well I think I will just get rid of it. SO, I park it in the street with a "for sale" sign. My wife calls me and tells me teh city has towed it because it was parked in the street because the tags were expired. Damn was I pissed.

Your .02:
The truck is at teh impound lot and now I am wondering if I should even mess with it. The body and interior was in great shape but it needed an engine re-build. I had a $500.00 price on it to get rid of it cheap. I imagine updating the tags will be about $200.00, insurance for 3 months about $75.00 and towing and storage another $150.00. Would you leave it or not? No, I would not re-build it. Heck, I might give it away for a case of good beer if someone wanted to take care of it. At this point, wondering if I should even mess with it.

Thanks

that sux why would you need to register it or put ins. on it? it would be cheaper to buy gravel and make another parking spot and keep it for further sale or part out

Can't do the gravel. It has to be concrete, pavers, or asphalt. I understand the motive. However, what torks me is that it gets towed because they ask me to move it.

its bs i feel for ya, its a tough choice i'd probabally get it out. do you have a buddy it can sit by for a while? chances are its not worth the cash to gert it out but my thinking is you spread out your out of pocket spending like 100 bucks here and a hundred here ans mabye you sink in 400 bucks over a month or two, no biggie right. then put it up for sale for like 600 bucks and you have a lump sum of cash in hand. kinda like an odd savings account

Sounds like you have a neighbor that did not like it, amazing how fast they can tow when they just 'happen' to drive by...

The city would just asume keeping it for however long it takes to auction it off and make the money for themselves. One way or another they make money.

It is like a legal way of stealing. Go get it out and recoup your money plus a little more.

You will not only lose the $500 selling price but also the money you already have in it.

In Ft. Worth they have the same ordinance about parking on the grass. But you can take brick cynder blocks and put them under each tire and leave it in your yard. It makes no sense. You should see if OK city has the same sort of rules and park in your yard on blocks and leave it there for a while. That will show them!

Yeah, Warr Acres. It and Bethany have some up-tight code and police officers. Technically, it runs - or did run, has not been started in a couple of years. Head gasket for sure and a bad valve. However, the 302 had a lot of miles init and needed to be pulled. It is at Bob Rodgers there on 39th as you are heading out to Yukon.

Its a Ford, leave it to the city to take care of.

A guy at work lives in Lakewood, in the Tacoma area of WA, and the new city ordinance, so he says, is that you have to have your car currently liscensed to even be parked in your own drive way. If its your private property, how the fawk can a city tell you what to do with it? I see if thier trying to clean up the looks, but come on, go find something that will actually be productive and money making. Just bull$h!t if you ask me.

I dont know how it works in the show me state but here in the gay state,

If your vehicle gets impounded for whatever reason, and you leave it, you will be charged with abandonment of a motor vehicle.
If you dont remove it you will be responsible for all towing and storage charges that have incurred.
