Just thought it may interest some of you guys that do not want the crowd or have no room in the engine bay for a large second battery. I have made mine so it can be easily removed as I only use it when my fridge is in place on holidays saving the 22 kgs weight the rest of the time.

It is in my electrical section of my site.

BTW, only 1020 hits to go as I type this and I top 100,000. ;)

Cheers

Nice setup, BTW love your web site, it has helped me out with a few of my own projects.

Question: for a removable 2nd battery has anyone tried using one of those Canadian tire type portable power things? like this? http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortme...<>ast_id=1408474395348027&bmUID=1086107556712

Just wondering if there is any reason why something like this couldn't be wired into the system? It has a couple perks like voltage inverter and air compresser built in. Might be nice and easy to do.

The only thing that worries me about those is the capacity. I'm not sure what the Amp Hour rating on that thing is, and if it doesn't have enough juice to run for a while, it may not be worth it. If you could find the AH rating for it, you could compare it to actual batteries.

I checked on it, the Candian tire ones look to run from 20 - 60 amphours. Not alot but better than nothing right?

Their writeup says "# Sealed, 60 amp-hour AGM battery withstands long periods of inactivity with minimal self-discharge" for the biggest one. similar for the smaller ones.

If its at 60 AH, that's really good. My yellow top is rated at 55...might be worth a shot if you get the big one...
