Hi everyone, my name is Mike, and I live in San Diego. I wanted to introduce myself, but more importantly, I wanted to say thanks to Jeeperjohn, and show off the beefy rock sliders he installed on my Jeep. I think they look great and are exactly what I was wanted.
I’ve been participating on the
forum since last summer, but I thought I would introduce myself. I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple
guys, and I hope I get a chance to meet everyone else out on the trails. I am not new to offroading, but I have been away from it for about 15 years or more. I have owned a CJ, an 89 Wrangler (not sure which J that is?), and this is my second XJ… (the first never saw any trails when I owned it).
As of last summer my XJ was completely stock. I have since lifted (4.5-5”), added SYE, 31.5’s, a winch bumper and winch, gas tank skid plate, D30 Diff cover/rock guard, and most recently added some nice rock sliders.
Here are the things I would like do to my Jeep next:
Trim the fenders, and front bumper (soon… lot’s of rubbing going on!),
T-Case/underbelly skid plate,
Level out front with some coil spacers (anyone got some 1 inchers lying around you don’t need?),
Aussie locker up front, and similar in rear. (I forget who makes one for Chrysler 8.25) ,
Re-gear to at least 4.10, maybe lower,
33 inch tires (with stronger axles shafts?),
Rear bumper with tire mount,
Roof rack,
Fix up my “toolbox” in rear (right now it is just a platform with my spare underneath.),
Get the stereo working properly (no sound in front left speaker. One in the rear sounds like it’s shredded).
What did I miss??
I will try to make it out to Cleghorn on Sunday… although I am not sure it’s worth a 90 mile drive to just hit a fire road!
I plan on being red as soon as the budget permits… but no later than March.
(The ONLY thing I would do differently when installing the rock slides is trim the fenders first... since I didn't trim first, we had to guiess how long to make the sliders.)
