I have a 97 XJ 4.0, auto, 242 w/o SYE. I was wheeling the first time in this jeep (8" lift, 33s, etc) and when I was on my way home I would randomly feel the jeep shudder. Then it would only move under hard throttle. Then it wouldnt move at all. I tried 4wd high range, nothing. Tried low range and it worked great. In fact I ended up having to drive it like 10-15 miles in low range at 15 miles an hour. Had no problems. I have a case with a SYE in it now, but I would like to figure out what happened and what I can do to fix it as I have another XJ that could use a case, and if this is a simple fix I will fix this one.
