Mounting the bender?

Ok I got my bender and was wondering what you guys have done to mount yours? I tried to drill my concrete for the HP tire changing tool and did not have a lot of luck. What type of anchors are you guys using and how deep are you drilling? If i'm in the wrong section please feel free to move it.

i use the drop-in anchors that are flush to the floor (no stud sticking out, you screw a bolt down into them).

you drill the hole in the floor, drop in the anchor and punch the small rod in the middle that expands the bottom to ancor it into the floor. they have worked great for me. i usually leave bolts in them so they don't get filled with crap when not in use.......then only the bolt head sticks above the floor

Same exact mounting here. I have also bolted it to a steel welding table that was also bolted to the concrete. Before you start drilling holes in the floor make sure you have enough room around the bender to do hoops. They will take up more space than you may think.

Here's mine.

Same thing, just anchors in the concrete, with lag screws.

You definitely need a pretty large radius of clear space around the bender. I think my hoop in the pic there started as a 10-foot straight piece. Also allow for a really big cheater bar if you're not doing hydraulic power...1.75" OD x .120 wall required me pushing on a nearly 8-foot-long pipe.

Same for me, drilled some holes in the floor and used drop in anchors. A shot of air will clean out the holes when needed, or keep the bolts in them. You'll need a hammer drill and masonry bit to drill the holes.

Be sure to carefully calculate how much swing room you need when long lengths of tubing are being used.

Would these be them http://www.concretefasteners.com/anchors-fasteners/strike/index.htm or would you happen to have a picture of these things? I used some crappy lagg screw anchors on the tire tool and they will not cut it. This is a small town and some things are hard to come by. Everything I looked at in the hardware store just did not look strong.

We have our bender mounted to a piece of what I think used to be a door...

get 1 other person for counter weight, and bend away... its nice to be able to move it outside to bend full sticks of tube and cut down on waste...

What the hell is that guy doing?? Is it a pose for some queer rag? :moon: I thought is was a tube bender, not a pipe magnet...

I mounted mine to a base with castors and welded a bar to the stand to place agaisnt my hip when i pull on the bar works ok as i dont have the swing room in my garage and living in canada cant go outside in the winter to bend tube well i wont anyways. This way i can move the bender when i run out of room.

We use the 2" reciever hitch on the Jeep. Works pretty good.
Got any pictures of that?

same thing i did. works real well...assuming you drill the holes right the first time

As already stated, because of the amount of room needed for 20-22' sticks,I dug a hole in the middle of the yard, concreted a 4"x4" tube in the ground. The bender mounts on a piece of 3"x3",its plumb regardless of what direction you put it in and can be stored in the garage!

my brother in law has that same bender in those last pics, only it sits on a base about 1" tall, which then bolts onto his welding table. Its a large solid steel table. If we bend big 1.75" DOM stuff, I have to put a foot on the leg of the table to keep it from moving, nothing too serious.

I have a couple of things. I only have a 24x24 detached work shop. I mounted my bender with drop in anchors as well. I blow empty holes out with air before I use it. When my shop is full. I have made another mounting plate which I welded on my trailer. It also doubles as a place to mount a vise when back at camp trying to fix those broken parts. I rented a Heavy Duty drill and drill bit for my anchors.
