Modding an LPG rig

Here's one that's not been mooted yet: are there any considerations one should take into account when modding an LPG/ dual fuel rig?

I know that although LPG is 100 octane, the calorific value is slightly lower, hence a 5-10% loss in power under normal circumstances. However, the engine runs a little cleaner and also slightly hotter, IIRC. Over here, running LPG is the only way to go if you've not got a really fat wallet, but could performance tuning throw up any nasties?

If its cheaper than gas, then you might see a savings. I think Propane would be the same if not a bit better than gas performance wise, if you modded the engine for propane. ie higher compression, maybe advance timming etc. You will also loose a lot of range, unless you have huge tanks.
I looked into CNG daul setup. A bit different, but simular problems and results. CNG is a bit cheaper than gas over here. Propane is the same cost. The CNG kit would advance the timing to help with power and milage. At least my understanding. The kit went for more than I was willing to pay on E-Bay and there is only two service station about 1 hour away. It wasn't worth the hassle. In Europe of England, it might make sense. Depends how bad the tax it for road use. I think some of the better kits were from England. I think $1500-3000 though.
