Moab jeep rental feedback wanted

I am getting married this summer and I'll be in the area of Moab on the honeymoon. I was wondering if anyone ever rented a jeep out there and hit the trails for the day. I would really like to check out Moab, but I would rather have my own jeep, but that is out of the question for this trip. Any positive or negative experiences would be appreciated. I know this probably seems like a no-brainer, but the more I think about it, the more I would like to wait and plan a trip with my own junk. Am I nuts?

I would say the one negative is that some trails are prohibited to go on with rental jeeps. A buddy of mine just started renting out 2004 rubicons as of EJS if interested I can check on availability and pricing.

Be sure and get the insurance.:D

I took my girlfriend to Moab and rented a YJ from Farabee's back in 1994 and we had a great time exploring the area.........1 month later we were engaged (passed the Moab test ;) ) and we'll celebrate our 10yr anniv. in August.

Farabee's Jeep Rentals is a good place to rent a TJ and DO buy the insurance, because if you happen to flop the rig, you could be the proud new owner of a used, wrecked TJ.

There's plenty of trails that can be challenging for a Moab novice and not push the limits of the rental rigs abilities. Try Shafer Trail, Gemini Bridges, Klondike Bluffs, Fins & Things, Monitor and Merrimac, Hidden Spire........get the Charles A Wells book, "Guide To Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails". Anyone who visits Moab will benefit from owning this book.

Congrats on the upcoming marriage!

I'm getting married the end of July and will be heading to CO for the honeymoon. We tossed around the idea of rentals, but decided it would be easier/cheaper to bring our XJ instead.

From what I've heard on insurance is if you are full covered then you don't need to buy their insurance. Am I right or wrong?

Check with your insurance agency prior.......ASS U ME nothing ;)
