Yep, Frank would know.

If the flame won't stay lit after a few minutes of burning/warming the thermostatic switch/thermocouple.... then you likely need a new switch/thermocouple. That part controls the gas flow valve. If the thermocouple doesn't get and stay hot enough to tell the valve to stay open...... you get no gas for the pilot light or the burners.
 
oh ok that makes sense. Yeah If I hold the pilot light down it stays on, when I let go it goes right out. Do you have his number?? Id like to give him the business first before going somewhere else plus he is right down the road from me.
