I need CLEARANCE from the bookkeeper. I THINK i can get that. Just wondering if there are any problems that I should be worried about with the T-18 trans, and the Spicer 20 T-case.

Comments ?

They might not be entirely suitable for crushing gravel, but otherwise I wouldn't worry too much. Most of those old cast iron Warner T this-or-that's are pretty robust, and easy to rebuild too. Spicer T-cases are pretty sturdy too. All gears, maybe a little rattling as they age, but strong. I don't know whether they changed the I6 engine after the early 70's, but after they dumped the disastrous Kaiser OHC 230 in the 60's, they ran a good ol' Rambler 6 - I.e the forebear of the XJ 4.0, and that's probably what this one still had.

I haven't looked at later ones, but my old 64 Gladiator had a TC shift lever that looked pretty poorly placed, requiring a bit of a reach down, but it turned out to be perfect, because you could hit it into 4high with your right foot.
