Comcast cable has cutoff my access to scifi network even though it's one of the new fandangled digital boxes and I've had it for a few years...

I called them and they told me that if I want to continue to receive it... I'll have to upgrade to "digital classic" for $59 vs my present standard package for $49...

What a frickin scam...

My question is...

a) anyone have a black box connection?
b) dish network?
c) other options?

The extra $10 isn't a big deal but I'll be paying it for one extra channel... maybe it's time to try someone else...

Fawkers.

No real fix for that one Gil. You will get more with that digital package, the music channels, the pay per views and the on-demand stuff. Pricing went up this month. We ALL got hit from Comcast. Their service is still better than any Dish IMHO. Any weather anomalies cause dishes to goof. Comcast has been really stable in comparison. I have the most you can buy from them with the 8mbps broadband, and TELEPHONE. My monthly is $175 per for everything they offer.

Upgraded to "digital classic" for a measley $5 more a month...

Found out that the digital package included the fees for multiple cable boxes for which I was paying separately under the non-digital setup.

that and I have no patience for shopping.

The only time my Directv goes out is just about the same time the power goes out too. Then it doesn't matter if you have cable or satellite. A lot of the dependability of a dish system is the installation and the time it takes to align the dish properly.

I have directv for $50, roadrunner for $40 and broadband telephone for $15, so we spend $95 total a month.

Sat's alright.
We had DirecTV and Direcway for internet.
Paid about $150 a month for that, as well.
When mine would go out, I would have nothing but magazines.
But, that was only on cloudy days.

It also depends on which birds the dish is looking at and how many it is seeing. Mine only drops during heavy snow (I keep a long handle brush for that) and HEAVY rain. I still have Comcast for internet, but had a hard time justifing them for TV. In the past few years Comcast has gotten more into phone and internet and has let the core buisness of TV kinda fall by the way, the picture quality is not what it used to be and even the "digital" channel show major artifacts. After all, when you have a imited bandwidth and the phone and internet share it with TV...and pay better, somehting has to give.

JMHO

Yup.

But that has little to do with my thoughts on cable. I was looking for a way out when they "reduced" me, and the package was GREAT! (Thanks all you Comcasters) Next time we get together, ask me about the differences in dedication to "up time". There is a reason I do not do ANYTHING but drive during the day, and only work 2 hours a night.
