local rear axle

OK, I've been thinking about it for a while now and I've decided that I am going to take my dad's deal on his MJ and build it. It's a longbed, which I already know is 20" longer than an XJ, but I'm just going to deal with it and have a good strap.

Anyway, I'm not going to be able to get to a Pick'n'pull for at least two weeks. Does anyone local have a rear axle lying around that's better than a D35? I'm going to springover and want to run 35s for the last little bit of clearance. Thanks. Phil

Well I think I'm going to forgo the $3000 currie 9" even though my wife ok'ed it, so I'm looking for a local D44 if anybody knows of a place to get one in NorCal. Saw a couple in the forsale but they'ld have to be shipped.

Then depending on what you're looking for Phil, we can both look for 44's or I'll sell you my 8.25.

Any suggestions?

Oooh, price wars! Actally, you both were beat, but for an 8.25, I'd rather go with a 29spl to start with. I'm kinda temporarily unemployed starting tonight, though, so I'm going to try to hit a yard or two this weekend.
....Unless maybe one of those 8.25s is geared low?

Phil, I have a 27 spline 8.25 that will need a good home soon. ;) You'll just need to upgrade to 29 spline and throw in a TAD.

Ok, does anyone have an axle, better than D35, with 3.55 or better gears, that isn't currently under a Jeep, and is fairly close to Napa or Davis? Like, depending on price, an hour or two away? I got my RE 5.5" today, and I'd like to be ale to get the axle set up for my springover. So it can all sit in one spot until I can put it all together. Thanks.

Dang Phil, yer gettin' going on that thing. I wish I had the coin for a lift right now. My first real paycheck comes at the end of the month, so I'll start saving from there. I hope to be sittin up high by the start of next season (fingers way crossed). When and where are you wrenchin? Lemme know and I'll try to show up.

I'm lucky, I've been living with my parents for the summer, so no real expenses. Of course, I'm mostly moved to my apartment in Davis, so I'm going to be buying my own stuff soon. Oh yeah, and going to classes.

I'm not going to be putting anything on until I get a rear axle set up for springover, and I've got my name on some axles that are currently seeing use. Like I said, I'm just trying to get everything together, without as much of a wait. What's another couple of weeks, though?

Keven offered me his driveway and tools, so that's going to be my plan, once it's time. **NOTICE** I will provide pizza and soda, and pay for some beers for after, for everyone who can help me. Watch for a date.**NOTICE**

Sounds like fun... and if you end up taking my axle, maybe we can swap in my 60 at the same time

Only if you can weld on some perches and shock mounts at the same time. I will help you swap your axles though, if I take yours or not. :D That way I know how to do it right when I swap mine.
