Leak down tester recommendations?

Talyn

I purchased an OTC leak down tester. Tried to use it today and the threads weren't long enough to work on the 4.0L So its going back.

I'm looking for a 2 gauge unit. Any suggestions?

Blue-Point we use them at the shop love them believe its $128 with our snap on discount im unsure of the actual retail price..but i recommend it comes with all the fittings you would need for your I6

That's odd, i can't imagine it working on anything else if it won't work on a 4.0. Not many different spark plug thread depths out there.

The threads on the 4.0L are recessed into the head. The threads weren't even long enough to engage the first thread.

I ran into the same issue with my Harbor Freight compression tester, threads weren't long enough. The one I bought to replace it works fine though, I can't recall what brand it is but seem to remember buying it at Advance Auto. It has a removable quickdisconnect (standard air tool fitting) hose/lead for the cylinder head thread adapter - if your leakdown tester will use the same quickdisconnect, there's a chance you can either use the adapter+hose from your compression tester or buy one at Advance just for the hose and adapter.

My NAPA compression tester that I bought years ago and forgot I owned seems to have enough thread depth as well. No quick disconnect though.

MAC part # for there leak down tester with 10,12, 18 mm adapter part #CLD210M
MAC part # CLD200M comes with 14 and 18 mm

I know your not a fan of snap-on, so MACs got its fair share of good priced specialty tools
