Tim (Bent) and I are meeting for a run in Big Bear (probably Silverwood up to Deep Creek). We are meeting @ 5:00 at the junction of the 15 and the 138 off ramp (near Cajon Junction). It might get a little chilly when the sun goes down so bring the proper clothing.

You guys have fun. You may want to check with the ranger station or discovery center regarding Deep Creek and areas close to it. Last I heard, 6 weeks ago, Deep Creek was still closed.

I was up there yesterday after running Castle rock and through the pinacles. I talked with one of the OHV volenteers that had just come down through Dish pan and deep creek, he said it was opened up that day. Three rigs had already rolled on the waterfall and by the time I got over there they had temporarily closed it for the day. After hearing about the rolled rigs, I was SO READY to give it a whirl, it's prolly my favorite trail on the hill. I was hoping to get over there again this evening but Cracker and I couldn't even finish Castle Rock. But thats a very long and very confusing topic. And no we did not get lost on the trail in the dark!

We did get to see that the tie-rods on Yukons are made out of 8 ga wire, tops.
It was kind of nice knowing we were not the ones sleeping on the trail this time. :D I do think that I'm going to run back up Monday real quick and see about running Deep creek though.
Avery are ya home yet?

Details? :D

Hmmm I think I will have to get the complete story from Ethan :D

Yeah it is true, we did not get lost.:laugh3: I actually broke my track bar. It broke clean at the weld. My buddy welded it and it was pretty much the only thing he welded on the whole D44 project (he did the swaybar mounts too). He has been 'cut-off' from welding on my stuff.

Tim used the maps and got us down the mountain (with no track bar) through Lake Arrowhead. I NEVER got death wobble once. I was pretty shocked. I didn't drive over 35 the whole way home. All in all I think I drove 70+ miles with no track bar. I got home at 2:30 this morning.

My buddy (the good welder) was banging on my door at 8:00 to see if I made it and to help me fix it. Here are the results:

I figured we would brace it to increase the support.

I am pretty much ready to go back out there except for a small tran-fluid that started yesterday. I've goto get it fixed before Swamp Lake.

On the trail that is. I'm still not sure how we gained so much altitude while going down through Miller canyon. Is there an Edison sub-station in Miller?

Yah, once we got to Arrowhead. I reall couldn't tell you where we hit the pavement. Twin Pines? It was Twin somthing and we went in more than twin circles in the dark. F.S. and Sidekick maps are of very limited help in a strange, dark neighborhood, very limited indeed! I thought we finally hit paydirt when we found Hwy 173 and headed for Hwy 18. WRONG! There are still enough closed roads up there to make CalTrans proud for the rest of the decade, 173 to 18 is one of them, don't you know. Once I discovered (was reminded) that I had a compas :doh:we stumbled our way to 178. From there passed Arrowhead and we were on our way to 18 with it's remaining closure and it's peacful detour through Crestline. Once we got to Highland Ave & HWY 18 I pointed Avery west as Highland becomes Foothill and Foothill is a straight shot to Pasadena, well except for the detour @ the new freeway construction by the 215.

So who's up for next weekend? :laugh3:

I might be in after Mike garage sale only if I have figured out the tranny leak. BTW it has leaked since :dunno: Now I am really confused about it.

I meant to say it has NOT leaked since. (just checked it again)

Well it looks like I'll be sticking around the house this coming weeking. Found out that I've got a lot of I's to dot and T's to cross.
