OK... who can weld up my new shock mounts and caliper brackets on my D44 build and make it all purdy?? I'd rather ask within the brotherhood before heading out to an outside shop full of strangers!

BTW, if anyone needs good media blasting services, try Mediatech in Aurora/Naperville area near 95th and 238th Ave. Guy did my D44 for $50. Had a nice old Chevelle and a Mustang in his booths at the time too. Call Ron at 630-978-1230 and www.mediatechblasting.com for info. Had to pass on the info for a hard workin' regular guy.

You're pretty close when taking the back roads.

Do I know you?

I'd be next week or later as I need to pick up a new set of axle bearings and cals/rotors to fit the brackets correctly.

Really appreciate it, let me know if you need anything. We can connect later next week. This project is in no big hurry. Just trying to line things up. Besides, I'm at TRJC Safari next weekend.

Thanks again for the offer,

Rob

I don't think we've met. I just moved to Illinois from Colorado. If you need a personal reference, you can PM intrepidxj. ;) Or you can check out some stuff I have done here: www.projectxj.com

Just send me a PM when you think you are ready....a few days notice should be fine. I need an excuse to get back in the shop.

hey fatwreck how much do re-weld the top door mount...seems like the previous owner(s) had it welded up but its only being held on by half the welds
sorry about the yay thing if it offended anyone just thought it was easier to look for this post so i could ask a question

Well, your grammar is a little off :spin1:, but I think you're asking me how much I would charge to re-weld the top door mount. I wouldn't charge for that....as long as it doesn't take forever.....and I guess depending upon how many of the old welds need to be cleaned up.

The shop is in yorkville and I live about 45 minutes from there. So, I just need to know ahead of time when might be a good time for us to meet up.

I plan on being there wednesday evening for a few hours if either of you think you want to stop by. Let me know.

i could do it at the same time rocketman gets his done...sorry i was doing other things while typing the message. the driverside fender has to come off too i hope thats not a PITA
can i drive without a driverside fender? lol

Have you done the doorless mod yet? That would make things a lot easier.

If you haven't and you want to take the fender off ahead of time, then I would think you could make it from elgin to yorkville without getting harrassed.

haha.. i just had to replace my front fender after a little accident offroading, but yea in the process i drove around town with the drivers side fender off for a little while. You should be alright.... lol

lol doorless xj i dunno about all that...plus its a 91 limited so it has power windows and locks unfortunatly

Uhhh.....my '94 had power windows and locks. It's not a problem. They just unplug.

I will be there this wednesday evening. If you want to show up to have your stuff welded, then you are more than welcome to. Just send me a PM and I'll send you the directions.

Taking off the fender can be a PITA. The Torx and disconnecting it from the front header can be tough. You have to remove the lights and the grill as well as loosen up the header. Lots of bolts. Just hope you don't have fender (wheel well) liners either!!

Thanks. Soory for the late notice.

No problem. Just send me a PM another time.

BTW, you missed a lot of fun. I got a piece of my tire carrier cut out tonight and a new one welded in. Good times.
