My K2500 Diesel Suburban has a noise and vibration coming from the right front wheel area; I'm fairly sure it is one or both of the CV joints on that side. Truck has 105k miles, so I figure it is about time. Anyone have experience dismantling one of these setups that can offer some insight and/or advice? Based on a quick look at the setup when I was mounting new tires, it looks like I'd have to remove the brakes, spindle nut and bearing unit to slide the entire half-shaft out as an assembly. Is that assembly retained inside the differential? Is it better to replace the offending joint(s) or the entire half shaft assembly?
TIA!
