Just got my first XJ

Hello all, I've been reading up on here for a while and was just given an '88 XJ. It's a running/ driving project and overall is in pretty decent shape. I live in eastern NC.

Right now it needs a brake flush and overall tune up. The tires are just plain old street tires on the factory steelies. I also have a set of the aluminum 15X7s and will probably put those on when I buy new tires.

My goal is to tighten it up mechanically so I can drive it a couple days a week, maybe to work and around the farm (even though it can really be driven right now) Will add some stuff as I go along. I'd like to have some sort of budget lift and maybe change the old oxidized white paint for tan or OD. I'm sure once the ball gets rolling it'll be hard to stop though.

Welcome to the addiction of the XJ!!!

Let us know how things are going with the mods you do. We like pictures but that's just because some of us don't read so well.:D

Have fun with it. I like the early model stuff and own an '88 Limited.

I spent a lot of time in OEM Tech and was able to fix a lot of the little quirky things that were wrong with mine. Then you can move on to Mod Tech. Like you said, once the ball gets rolling.....

Welcome aboard and please feel free to contribute.

I'm near Greenville, NC.

Started keeping a notebook of things that I'm reading in OEM Tech that I know need to be looked at like vacuum hoses, fuel management, etc. What a great resource this site is!

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone-
