I dont get much time to get up to the mountains, seems like once a year. Well I,m going camping June 10th 11th and returning home on the 12th. I am going to stay at Low Gap Creek in Helen:

CAMPGROUND NAME: Low Gap Creek

UPDATE DATE: 11/8/2009

STATE: Georgia

REGION: Southern

RANGER DISTRICT: Chattooga River

NEAREST CITY/TOWN: Helen

RESERVATIONS: No

DIRECTIONS:
From Helen, GA, take State Rt. 17/75 north 0.8 miles to State Rt. 75 Alt.
Turn left onto Rt. 75 Alt and then turn right almost immediately onto Poplar
Stump Rd. Go 4.3 miles to campground.

NOTE: Poplar Stump Rd. changes to gravel in 1.6 miles and becomes River
Rd. (Forest Rt. 44) in 2.2 miles. At this point, the road continues as gravel
and becomes single-lane, rough and winding.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 1,800 ft.

The campground, located adjacent to Low Gap Creek, is comprised of White
pine, rhododendron and Mountain Laurel. The creek bisects the campground
- accessing sites 8 through 13 requires fording the creek and driving over a
low water bridge. The campground is a favorite location for anglers fishing
the Low Gap Creek. Each campsite has a lantern post.

What kind of trails are we workin with??

Should be just forest roads. I'm trying to get my friend to show me where there are some legal water crossing at I've been on them before just not really sure where the are. We had a blast last year ended up with 4 xj .

Well I was considering this but, I finally checked out the ride time and 8 hours is a lttle bit of a haul for me!

If anybody just wants to join us for the ride we will leave around 10ish and we will be around Helen and Tray Mt. area we will be on channel 4

If I can get my friend to join us. There is a roadr that the river follows the road bed for about 500 yards and then we cross a river and have a hill climb nothing to bad but if it rains before we ride the water on the roadis prettty deep. I do hope its still open.
