Johnson Valley

Hey all, I don't know much about the trails in th SoCal areaexcept that Johnson Valley is pretty stinkin hard-core. I was wondering though if there's a "bunny hill" anywhere in there. I have a stock Cherokee with nothing more than Michelin 235/75 LTs under it. Open at both ends and the only tow point is the rear receiver with my metal hooked straps (I know I know, but I'm workin on getting some used tow hooks soon as I have money and the straps were a wedding gift that I'm too poor to replace right now)...I would really like to get out to JV and just mess around but not if I'll have nowhere to play without breaking myself. Anyone know of any other places to go that are fairly close to Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree/29 Palms area?

JV is an open OHV area. There's plenty of off-roading to do out there other than the extreme stuff; lakebeds, small dunes, off-road race courses, etc.

Anyone planning any trips out there, maybe with some, um less-capable vehicles? :)

Was just talkin to FullSize, and I'll be there. I'll probably be watching and/or hitchin a ride from a larger XJ than my own. :D

Some of the NAXJA guys that were out there took some pics and I'd like to get some full-resolution pics of my Junk.

Ron did awesome, no winch, no strap, no dama......well ok some damage. :) Ryan had to winch but that might have been because he followed me up the trail & had to cross 38" tire holes. Sorry Ryan. Of course I had to winch once, need to lower my air-down pressure (below 6.5psi apparently). Paul & Dave had no real issues but they did seem to be in quite a hurry all day, I guess showing up at 10AM :dunno: does that to ya...

Jackhammer was an awesome trail, can't wait to do it again.

I think this was due to a communication breakdown. The problem was that it was Dave's run, but I led it since Dave had never run Jack. I assumed he held the drivers meeting, he probably assumed I did. For the future, WCGIC rule number 1 is 'if you can't see the guy in front of you, hurry the f up' :D

I was trying not to push people too much, but I was a little uncomfortable starting Jack at 11: on somewhat of a newb run. I was amazed that we were off the trail 3: We all had a real easy day of it, but I wouldn't make a habit of starting that late & counting on getting back to camp before dark.
