Is this 8274 worth $300

Guy says it works and that he can hook it up to a battery to show me. I think the serial number is 720040168.

People who have rebuilt these, what do you see in the pictures that obviously need replacement?

No. For $300 I would expect something that looks a lot better than that.

I would take a basket case 8274 but not that for $300.


PS - Are you sure it's an 8274, it looks older to me.

Looks like it's been welded, beaten apart, then JB welded. Skip it.

That is a WARN Belleview(may be spelled wrong?)

I had one that I restored a few months ago. I bought it for $50 and traded it even for a WARN XD9000i

The winch after the resto;

Its a really stout winch but the Belleview does not have a "reverse out" function. It free spools with a brake. The Belleview was cable controlled from the cab and came from the factory on older Scouts, Jeeps and Rovers.

The Belleview was the predecessor to the 8274. The one pictured above is not worth 300, I would give 25 for it, its only worth parts in the shape its in. Also worth noting, you can rebuild a Belleview with off the shelf parts out of a Granger catalog. Restored and in perfect condition with the cable controls(mine had those as well) its worth at least $500.

It has a oil filled case and it uses straight 30wt oil. I added a drain plug to mine for easier servicing.

I traded mine for the XD9000 to a guy that was restoring a 74 CJ-5 and needed a correct era winch on it.

Thanks for the replies. Andy from warn messaged me on ExPo about it and said it is indeed and Belleview and not worth picking up.

They are hard to find parts for and I found a much nicer 8274 that comes with a bumper (scrap metal to me) for the same price.

I miss my 8274, It was twice the winch my XD9000i is.
