Makes you think

Back a few years ago I was headed into work at 0500 and there was a car about a 100 yards in front of me, I had been behind him for about 5 miles. It was foggy out, he went around a corner and I followed a few seconds later, jammed on the brakes and skidded to a stop. I 'thought' I saw a big tree across the road in front of me, turned out I was right. This big old dead oak tree has chosen that exact moment to fall across the road missing the car in front of me and not hitting mine. I managed to stop about 6" away then almost got rear ended by the car behind me. Got turned around, put out a few flares and stopped at a gas station to call the state police. I know that more than a few people ran into it because later that nite when I went by the spot on the way home there was a long line of plastic, red and yellow glass, chrome and other 'stuff', the 'stuff' line was over 100 yards long on both sides of the road.
I was lucky, was driving the wifes car and had not picked up the XJ yet or I might have been going a bit faster.
