I think I want to lower my Jeep.

I don't like the way it looks and think it would be better if it were a little lower.

I've got RE 5.5" ZJ coils, and my XJ sits nose-high and rides rough. I'm planning on getting drop brackets this summer, along with redoing my steering, but I'd still like to lower it a little. I'm not overly concerned about sitting too low, because I can space it back up a little if neccesary. I kinda want to go flareless again and cut my fenders out bigger, too.

Is anyone interested in trading ~6" lift coils for ~5" coils? I'd need the coils and a place to do the swap.

I'd consider swapping with you Phil. I have the RE 4.5 coils and will likely need another inch with the winch. Give me a call.

Do you have a winch up front? If not do you plan to get one? In the meantime you can always make a bumper and then add 50-80lbs to simulate the winch.

BRILLIANT! Strap a cooler to his front bumper and make Phil carry all the liquid refreshments!

Phil, try and find some pics of Lodi Jim's XJ, he went to Hell Hole with us last weekend and he's riding very low on 35s, I liked it. He had short arms and no drop brackets, and his angles weren't that bad, I'd guess 2-3 inches less lift than yours. do that and you wouldn't need drop-brackets, just some nice shocks.

I agree with Chuck, put a winch on it.
Remember, flareless is illegal. :nono:

Got your letter, thanks for the pic.

Only in Davis :laugh3:

I've had NO problems and mine stick out farther than his and the bed is gone off my MJ, just throw some flaps on and you'll be fine:

Fenders and Mudguards

27600. No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread. This section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from registration, trailers and semitrailers having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds, or any vehicles manufactured and first registered prior to January 1, 1971, having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds.

No winch for at least a season. I think I'm more likely to need a winch during snow season than rock season anyhow.

I never did get around to putting on rear flares, so I may end up doing mudflaps, instead of raising my front flares up to trim more.

If I have to carry the resfreshments, I'm going to share in the refreshments.
