I need a f'in cage

I can't beleive how many close roll situations I get into. It's sickening. I don't remember the last time I wheeled where I didn't feel I was gonna go over. I can pull the same line as someone else, or so I think, and there I am at frightening angle or more when they go right through it with no problem. Yesterday I was going up the slab on lower whompum, and tried giving it a bump...well it just bumped my front tires to the right..quite a bit...enough to make everyone run over and save me. It was weird because I usually neer need anyone to save me. :) haha, what a joke. My brother was in the pass. seat practically crying. :) That made me laugh quite a bit. I guess the only benefit out of my stupidity is learning the roll over angle for my jeep by feel. Well, just wanted to whine a bit, it is starting to freak me out. I will begin planning the cage after nacfest...hopefully it's not too late. _nicko_

How does your Jeep seem to ride on the highway... nice and soft? When I rolled mine, the progressive coil springs I was running were cushy on the highway, which I think contributed to the ease at which it bounced around laterally. Maybe you need a stiffer spring and/or shock to dampen the motion.

What trails did you run? Sounds like you spent some time on Whompum.

You gotta watch that "bumping" action when on an obstacle with a stick. What pressure did you drop the AT's down to? My 33" AT's gripped real well at around 10-13 psi, and had plenty of sidewall flex without getting into the rims.

My coils don't seem too soft, but don't seem hard at all either, more of a cushy feel than a hard.....they are 4.5" ZJ coils. A stiffer shock may be a good idea, I'll be in the market for some longer ones sooner or later. Are RS5000's too stiff? I know they are very soft on a Pathfinder, but it is quite a bit heavier than a Cherokee.

I was out with BMJA on saturday, so we didnt go on anything that difficult. The hardest trail we did was rattler, and I was so happy to see that my fender trimming has gotten rid of ALL the tire stuffage into the sheet metal. We spent the last 2 hours of the day on 2 of the whompums. I'm always down at 10 psi now. They had great flex, and were working all day really well. The slab was the only thing they didn't grip on all day, but that's because they are only puny 33" AT's in a big hole before a big rock...I didn't really expect them to. _nicko_
