Anyone have a good / rebuildable 4.0 renix head for sale?

I put a rebuilt 4.0 in the heap with the old Radiator. Now I have a new radiator but the damage is done. Short story is it overheated and now I am burning coolant and the coolant bottle has blown up like a balloon...
(again  )

Anyhow, I need to pull the head off, I am hoping it is an obviously blown head gasket. Second choice is a cracked head (some choice eh?).
:fuse:If it's the block, I have 5 gallons of gas and a lighter.

Don't get too down just yet, that 4.0 is a pretty durable motor, could just be a head gasket issue. You need to figure out if it's a head gasket or the head? Is it a new water pump? thermostat?

You don't have to use a Renix head. #7120 HO heads will work too. You just have to notch out the two alignment dowel lands in the intake manifold and slide it up a little to go with the higher intake ports in the HO head. Then a thin bead of silicone along the top of the intake gasket just to be on the safe side. The intake ports won't line up exactly right, but it will work fine, make more power, and give you more options for finding a head.

Thanks for the tip! I will keep my eyes open for either...

I should rephrase that. The ports line up fine, the 'issue' is that a corner of the intake-head port transition is obstructed. Last time I did one trimming the gasket worked fine, can't remember if it was an HO or Renix gasket.

Good luck w/ your search.

In mid january Ill have a 88 renix long block for $200 but that might be to far away for you. Sounds like you need it now though.

If I don't find anything else before then I will definitely be interested.

I do want to get my rig back on the road, driving a borrowed car is frustrating! (even when it's family)

There's just nothing like being in your own ride.
And with all the snow, I am not riding the bike. Cold's survivable for the most part, ice, snow and other cars in it... thats another story.
