Good luck! I tested for Portsmouth, VA a couple years ago (before I knew anything about VA...hindsight is 20/20)
6000 applications were received, 3000 showed for the written test (they said) Of the 3000, only 1200 passed, and that got whittled down and down thru successive testing (physicals, eye and ear, mental stability, and the physical test, aka "fireman challenge" type course. Made it the whole way to the interview panel with the chief and city officials and ended up 21st. They hired the top 11
Gave up because they said I'd have to repeat the whole process every year they were hiring (they weren't keeping a list to fill off of)

Dont sweat the written tests, they are pretty easy. If Tulsas Physical test is anything like Dallas your in for a real treat. Dont think ive ever had my butt kicked like that before. But im sure youll ace it as well.
the written was easy for me others said that they had some trouble. If I don't get at least a 90% I won't be happy with myself. If I get over a 75% I get an interview and then the physical test after the interview. A lot of the questions were medical which is where the paramedic training comes in. I am very hopeful on this. There were about 1000 that tested and they are taking 40 for the acadamy. The physical test seems like the easiest one I have taken. I was hired on at a smaller dept. but didn't have my EMT yet so they took another guy. I will know the test score and have an interview scheduled in two weeks. I will keep you guys posted
