Hydrolocked 4.0L now runs better?!?!? WTF?!?!

I hydrolocked the MJ on Sunday. Ever since, my miss at idle is gone, it doesn't hesitate anymore off idle and has a very noticable power increase.

I hydrolocked it a full fawkin throttle, it should not even run anymore.

Sounds like you hydrolocked it just enough to blast loose all the carbon build up, yet not damage the rest of the engine. Consider yourself lucky :dunce:

When you say hydra locked did the motor STOP dead due to water ingestion?

Was th eintake full of water?

did it shoot toons of water out the cylinders when you pulled the plugs?

Just becaus eit dies in water it doe snot mean it was hydralcoked, you may have swamed the ingnition.

If you did stop it dead with H2O expect to blow a rod in the future, they tend to fracture and then break at the worst possible time....

Full throttle into the water, slid off to the side and had water halfway up the windshield while sitting still (tried to stay on the shallow side but hit something and slid over)

had to be pulled out (starter wouldn't even freakin turn it) I thought it DID chuck a rod.
had six good streams of water comin out the plug holes, lotsa water came out. picked pieces of the air filter out of the intake, changed the oil and it fired up and ran just fine

Don't care if it pops, I've got another one (was gonna swap it in anyway due to lumpy idle vacuum) but it's running smoother than it ever has.

I truly do not understand why it not only still runs, but runs better.

I got this motor as a hydrolocked core and rebuilt it (I even cut corners during the rebuild, I just did the bottom end with used rods and reground the crank) about 10k miles ago.

I did run it 50 miles home holding it at about 3500rpm (basically trying to blow it) :dunno:

we'll see what happens

I heard somewhere that an engine ussually runs really nice before it blows, either that or your inline6 runs better on water then it does on guzaline. I'd start pumping arco gas if I were you.

I also have hydolocked my engine a couple of times and nothing bad really happend I thought the engine would be jacked but changed the oil pulled the plugs and it ran fine.
