In case you have not seen tonights weather forecast, the clouds out in the Gulf went from a T wave, to a tropical storm in just a few hours late this afternoon. All the tracking models have us smack dab in the middle of the cone of probablity for a direct hit Tuesday morning.
I know. I am making plans already, its not going to be anything too big but I will have to work through it. Its one of the perks of being an EMT. So the wife and kiddos will be going to my parents house where they have a big Gen. set up to run the house.

Native Houstonian here, born in Houston, but after Tropical Storm Allison, I don't take them for granted anymore. Allison in 2001 made Houston Look like swamp land in New Orleans. And I already live on swamp land, right down stream of Edgebrook. They recently fixed the flooding problem in Edgebrook and now it drains through my already overloaded boyus here in SH.
During Alllison I watched a large apartment dempsy dumster speed at 40 mph down 7-1/2th street in the Heights where I got trapped during the storm. The water was about 12 feet deep in the street. Lots of fun. The people north of us really got it bad, they got something like 30-36 inches of rain in 24 hours IIRC. Allison just park itself here.
Bring the rain. We need it (at least at my house). It hasn't rained here in a long time. Pretty much everywhere around me has gotten rain but not here. 30 inches would be fine, thats how low the pond is in our yard if not more. Plus it would test our new ditches.
No really it sucked. wasn't worth working into the night/morning trying to get my XJ fixed so if I need to get in it and run to work I could. Didn't even get the call to come in. bummer!
We got three inches here yesterday, and more has been falling, from a loud thunderstorm with lightening since noon here. The online radar is getting worse as the day progresses.
