So I have some video clips I would like to upload, I have space on comcast.net and tried http uploading (what I do for regular photos)and it didn't seem to work, its 720 mb if that matters :)

Damn Gary! how long is it? (thinking about slimming it down options.)

Seriously, I have full 2 hour movies on my external hard drive that are the same size as that. What format is the movie in? Remember not everyone is on a T1 or T3 (that would be me) and it will take a long time to d/l which most don't have that patience (me once again) for.

:) I guess that is pretty big :) I also have them on VCD they are more like 18 megs there, they work in the dvd player, but I can't figure how to open them on the computer.

I don't know how to compress it either. Its probably a 2 minute clip.

Strait off of my mini dv camcorder.

you'll need to convert it to a proper video format for use online like mpeg or avi. Search the help menus and stuff and try to get it down to about 10megabytes

Ok I think I got that done in premiere I changed it to quicktime, and reduced it to 6 frames per ? its a little choppy but its now at 12mb

the http uploading still seems to be choking though.

did you change the actual size of the movie, as in it's viewing dimension? because for 2minutes of movie you should be able to get it to 8megabytes with 24 frames persecond and a resolution of 320x240(or somewhere close).

also even at 8megabytes if you aren't on a broadband(cable DSL) connection it will take forever to upload that amount of data. Also http uploading is extremely slow. Do you know how to access their ftp file sharing abilites?

Try DVDRHelp.com.. They have a lot of useful info and utilities...

Have you tried just going to the ftp page and copying and pasting the files. Sometimes you don't always need software. If id doesn't work go to tucows.com or download.com and you'll find pleanty of ftp software.

Gary. I don't have your e-mail on me...but give me a call sometime from in front of the machine, we'll get this straightened out, I believe I sent you my phone number?
