I have the 3 inch lift but i want to go bigger without changine my setup. I have a clean 3 inches in the front and AAL in the back, which sagged about a half inch in a couple weeks. I put a 1 inch block in the back to even it out, so i technically dont know what the rear lift is. But i want a little more tire clearance and just a rig that site a little higher. I know about coil spacers and shackles But where is my limit before i got to A) Extend brake lines B) Driveshaft C) SYE D) transfer case drop. To get the added height i am willing to purchase a transfer case and brake lines becasue they are cheaper then the other two. And if i used shackles in the back should i just remove the block. Can i get to 4.5 inches before doing anything. Unfortunaly i got rancho 5000's so i think i will have to replace those to but o well, i made the mistake of not getting the 9000's. Advice would be appreciated. thanks

Go with the spacers and shackles. Higher than that and you will need to start to thinking about the other upgrades. You can add on a budget boost with your setup and maybe get away with stock CAs and TB but the smart money will buy these upgrades. Just my .02

I did the same thing, I had 3 inch lift springs and still wanted more. I would suggest building a leaf pack from junkyard goods. Then running some coilspring spacers in the front. I ran 2" spacers for a long time with no probs. Let me know if you decide to go this route, I have spacers and don't mind turning a wrench (I think you are the one who lives near me  )

do u think i can just go with shackles instead of a leaf pack? That can become kinda spendy, even at a junk yard, and i know nothing about assemblin that but im sure i can learn... DO u live in Couv?

i would lose the rear block and use a spacer in the front and a shackle in the rear.... the brake lines should be done regardless... either new extended lines or YJ lines.. did you use a full length or a short AAL?

full length.... ya i already figured brake lines were a must, and they arent real spendy or difficult to do, its the other things im wonderin about. i still dont know much about transfer cases yet. i gotta read my jeep manual i guess. HAHA......

I live in Longview. I am always up for a good wrenching party. Any help you need if you decide to build a leaf pack is no prob. If you want to do the shackles I can help with that as well. Shackles would work fine, I am just not a big fan of shackles or blocks (even though I am running blocks as we speak). Depending on the year of your jeep (can't see your sig right now) you may be ok up to around 4" (in regards to your transfer case). I am at 6.5" with no SYE, and only slight vibration at 75 mph. My rear driveline is not stock though, and I had to screw around repeatedly with different shims to get the angle right.

Like many of us on this board, I went from 3" to 4.5" also. I also recommend the standard blocks in front and shackle in the back. However, since you have a lift block and a 3" aal adding the shackle is going to weekend your rear springs pretty quick. I would remove the blocks and add a additional couple of leaves or a short aal or something else to help provide some support to the current pack. I have a 3" long aal and a 2" short in my pack for 4.5" and it is well supported (I will be adding a 1.5" lift shackle shortly).

I would definietly do longer break lines (I recommend stainless steel) to add better breaking (the bigger the tires the better the breaks you want and this is the best change I think you can make to a stock system).

Add the lift without the transfer case drop and see how it goes, if you vibes add the transfer case drop or shims. You will almost definetly need new shocks. Your control arms should be ok for now.

so basically since i have a 3 inch AAL like you i should just add another 2 inch shorter AAL to the leaf spring pack. And then im assuming it will sag down to another inch. so then i should put in the shackle down move it back up. Even i knew of really cheap 4.5 leaf packs i would definitly go for those. but since thats not goin to happen. Are helper leafs fairly cheap??? Im glad to here i may only have to change brakelines. This high school budget makes everything real tough.

i see everything i need is fairly cheap thru Rustys, it will cost me less than 300 for everything but brake lines threw them. is there product worth getting or is it u pay for what u get

For what you are doing Rusty's stuff will work fine. I have had 2 pair of his front coils, and have been real happy with them. You can probably pick up a pair of XJ leafs from the junk yard for 40 or 50 dollars. I would be more than happy to help you build a leaf pack from them. You would just need some new center pins for the springs. IIRC the springs from Rustyt's are only 209.00 if you wanted to go that route. As far as brake lines are concerned...look around, I bought mine from someone on the forumns here for 20.00. The YJ brake lines are ideal for what you are wanting to do.
