How to find a lost "friend"

I am trying to locate my old XJ that I sold :bawl: during a financial crisis last year in the hope that perhaps I can buy it back. Does anyone have a clue as to how I'd find it? It would be a glad day if I could return it home.arty:

I used carfax to check up on my old XJ once. Doesn't tell you who owns a vehicle, but if you have the VIN and $15 you can see things like inspections and such. Mine showed up at an inspection station about 40 miles south of me a year after I traded it in so I assumed at that point that it was still alive.

Sad part is it'll also tell you if the vehicle went to the boneyard etc, so you never know what you're gonna find.
