SO I pickets up a flex a lite trans cooler and B&M trans temp gauge, so now my question is whats the best way to hook it up? Should I hook it up inline with the radiator or should I bypass the radiator completely? I am also hooking up a brand new cfs 3 row all metal radiator and a HD fan clutch at the same time.

The vehicle is a 88 Comanche with the 4.0, 4x4, non ac

here is the cooler. It the cooler to big and overkill?

I took the line coming from the trans to ran that to the aux cooler, aux cooler back to the radiator/stock cooler then back to the trans. The aw4 needs the correct heat(operating temps) to run correct but .. Being that you're from texas I really dont think you'll have that problem.

I would not have used those plastic zip tie things. They have a tendency to damage the core.

I completely agree. For expensive as a radiator is, I'd never use the plastic zips.

My advice would be to fab a mount that bolts to the unibody 1-2" forward away from the radiator. That way you have complete air circulation around the cooler. It's a "stiffer" mount (that's what she said) and you'll never have any issues. OP, pm me if you'd like a picture the way I'm talking about. I used 1" stock and milled out the center so the air even passes through the mount.

Just wanted to say Thank You for your post. I have been trying to figure out how do mount mine as well for quite a while now...

Is that a Ford trans cooler?

No problem man. It's an oil cooler I got from the local speed shop. 1/2" ID to keep the fluid moving.
