Highest lift floor jack?? There are the shop ones that cost $$$$$$$$ but what about $200 or less?? Brands, highest reach i've seen so far on a 2 3/4 ton is 24 inches. ALSO 10 ton stands with 30 inch heights.

IDEAS, brands, locations, prices.

YOU KNOW WHAT BOARD?? We could use a "Tools and Techniques" category.

ummm, yeah, I use just a regular 20 inch sears jack and I crib everything I do at home so I don't have to buy a crazy high shop jack. Like, lift up one side, put your jack stands under it, lower your jack, add wood under the jack and do it all again until you get it as high as you'd like. Takes a bit of effort, but it's a whole lot cheaper. I use the high lift for the trail. I don't think the high lift is the safest jack, but neither is the cribbing I guess. What do you need to know how high the jack is anyhow?

i just got a jack from harbor freight it goes up to 20 inches i think and was about 30 bucks. for the money i felt it was the best deal. i figure if i need to i will use wood under neath to compensate for the lack of total height.

Kind of watch out when letting down with a H.F. jack. The ones I've used from them all seem to "catch" at a certain point, then, as you're still trying to gently lower it, it'll just give.

If you are in a garage, use a chain hoist to lift the front or back. You can go as high as the roof will allow. Then put the 10-ton jack stands under it. Worked for me a quite a few times.

The ceiling in my garage is the floor of my daughters bedroom. Wouldn't EVEN begin to test the structural capacity of the 2X10's that make up the joists.

It seems a good STRONG floor jack with a "custom" steel extension welded to the lift pad would be ideal for us "modified SUV types." :wierd:

Think some heavy steel pipe could be modded to handle the load?? All you welder types can chime in!

I would not use "pipe" for that.

And there is a tool talk forum.

well, lets move this to the tool forum and turn it into "how to fab up your own hi-lift floor jack"

It is a pita but I only have the 20 inch stands and jack. I start under the axle and pull a wheel. Then let it down on the jack stands that are under the sub frame, letting the suspension droop. My rotor/drums droop down to just a few inches off the floor.

A high lift floor jack and stands would be Kick butt... However too rich for my blood.

my jack goes up about 28" i welded a piece of 4"x4"x1/4" wall (lefe over from my bumper :D) onto the pad, 10" of it, then i welded on a piece of 6"x1"x1/4" C chanel on top of that as a new pad, never has given me a problem, and gives me a max height of almost 40"

That is the best thing I have seen as well. Have two buckets/cups/pads whatever you call them. Leave one as is, and weld some pipe and some flat steel to another. Switch out as needed..............

Once again, the internet did not fail me.

Search for "giant Jeep lift" and you get not only what you ask for, but more :laugh3:

Not quite a floor jack, but I was wanting to look into one of these till I saw some pics of one in use. Nowhere even near high enough to work on a lifted XJ much over 3-4", or even anything that sits a bit higher like a stock 4x4 truck.

Dig a pit and roast a hog in it.. and get some jack stands
