High beam switch / alternates?

So I did the steering column tighten this weekend.

I guess I didn't get the high beam linkage right, they come on when I pull the lever back, but the lever doesn't turn them off. I reached down below days and pushed the rod to turn them off for now.

Wondering if I should crack it open again and see if I get it better aligned, or is there an alternate dash mount button method?

I would crack open the column again and do it right. Most likely you simply didn't get the metal rod inserted in the lever arm.

I am pro at cracking open now. Had it almost done the first time, then saw the little high beam plastic thingy in my parts bin. Had it almost done a second time, then realized I didn't have the start slide thingy engaged.

I bet I can get in there in less than 10 minutes now.

Anybody have a diagram specific to the high beam rod connection,

well i have a 90' column in my CJ and the switch its self is adjustable, don't recall any design changes between the two years, but you may have pushed the switch back and only need to loosen the two bolts on top and push it forward.
