Recently i have stumbled on a prety good price on a HHO gas kit... the ones that are supposed to get you better gas milage and whatnot. I guess to me it sounds too good to be true. Waht are some downsides to getting these settups? I did some reasearch and mostly what i found was raving loony conservationist propaganda urging evryone to install one because its SOOOO amazing. I am most worried about it working in the winter, the lifetime of the kit, and the impacts it will have on the engine.
Just for reference this would probably not be on the Jeep, but on the DD, a lil 4 banger mitsubishi. I guess i figured i would get the most reliable info here. thanks in advance.

From what I've learned what most people say about them is there is no such thing as 'free energy'. When you install it into your car it will draw a descent amount of amps 10-30 even more depending on the number of cells you run and blah blah. The power is made from your alternator which puts a greater load on your engine, ergo (I love that word) you lose in the end due to nothing works perfect. The upside is that with the HHO gas introduced into the engine overtime will clean the engine due to a cleaner burn. Some cars have to run EFIE (I think it's called that) it's something you add to your oxygen sensor to make it think your running a 14.7:1 ratio. With the HHO mix your car will run leaner but not a bad leaner if that makes sense. There are a considerable amount of people doing these kits that you can watch on youtube from people that build their own kits and show you the ups and downs of it. I would say don't pay for the kits when once you see how simple it is to make you can save yourself quite a bit of money in the end. My $.02
