Hey, any info you guys give will be appreciated. Nothing is installed yet, and this is my first true install (w/ amps and the likes). Please note the following:

fronts: boston pro60's comps (125 @ 3ohms)
rears: boston sx50 comps (65 @ 4ohms)
hu: eclipse cd8445 (14x4) & 3-8v preouts

sub not related (10w6 & jl 500/1) this one I think I can handle ??

1. Would it be better to use the 300x4 for the fronts ONLY and the head unit for the rears??

2. Should I split 75W x 4 - front & rears??

3. Should I leave the rears out, and just hook up fronts only (sell rears)??

4. Should I have my as* kicked for not getting a 450/4 and giving everything the power it's really asking for??

Thanks, sorry about posting in Street & performance section. oops.

wow, you sound really confused. lol. Its pretty simple really. That 500/1 is a powerful beast, I have that pushing my 12. For a 10w6, it is definitely a nice suited amp. I would keep the gain down a little bit on it in order to keep the voice coils from frying. As far as your speakers are concerned, definitely put them all in. Get the 300/4 to push them ALL. Its a 4 channel amp for a reason. lol. Depending on what you want for sound quality and your budget, running speakers from the HU compared to running them off an amp is like night and day. It is ALWAYS worth it to amp your speakers. Keep everything you have, get the 300/4 and you wont be dissapointed....guaranteed.

you've got far less work ahead of you if you use a 4 channel amp to power the 4 speakers.
do you plan on running new leads to each speaker or utilizing the factory harness?
on 97-01XJs, the front speakers can cut out due to a bad splice in the factory harness between the door and the body. it seems quite common. that in itself would be reason enough to rewire at least the front stage.

lets talk wiring.
for that amp, i would never use anything thinner than 8awg with an inline fuse, placed close to the power source. is a capacitor in your future? millionbuy has them on sale for $32. the ohms of resistance are so close to those of the expensive ones its scary. for speaker wire, i never wire anything with thinner than 14awg. its an extra couple of bucks for the thicker wire, but if i'm going to tear it apart and rewire, i'm only going to do it once, so if i plan to upgrade in the future, my wiring can handle it safely, without melting.
your head unit is only 14w x 4 channel? isn't stock more than that? the 50$ cheapies at walmart are at least 30x4.
run the RCAs for the sub's amp down one side of the vehicle and the power wire down the other side. its a good trick to cut down on background buzzing and overall noise from coming through the RCAs.
