Herculined sides of the heep today.

After doing the whole tub a few months ago and being impressed with this stuff I decided to go ahead and do the sides of my 93 XJ. They were beat up, lots of scratches and a gummy tar left over from re-applying the side moulding a million times.

I also installed the Firestik M-2 mount you see.

nice been thinking out doing that myself.

That looks good. I have the entire floor Herculined and the lower part on the side like yours. I think you should do the fenders also. The smooth fenders just look odd with the bumpy herculiner.

I roughed the surface up with some heavy sandpaper and just painted it on with a brush. 03 coats made it extra thick.

Finally... The cut happened! Nice!

Mtb-Jak Make sure you buy the nice, paint on hurculiner. I went with the cheap-o $7.50 can of spray on bedliner and did 2 coats in about 20 minutes. Its real flakey and not the gritty hurculiner look i was going for at all.

TMXONR: Love your Jeep. What size are those MTs, 33? How much lift is that? I'd like to bump up to about 5" and 33s in a year or two.

Thanks, they are 33x12.50 TrXus MT's on 15x8 Classic Locks. Lift is about 4.5 inches (Rustys 3" full packs with RE spacer up front).

im going to use the 3m spray on stuff for fenders nand rock rails sides bumpers. does anyone have there all white cherokee with fenders and sides painted with it?

i think im gonna do this when the weather looks good and when i get my sliders on. how did you guys do the reverse side of the door? the spot thats prone to rust (mines not rusting yet... but will up here in the northeast) would that rust proof it at all? and the rocker how much did you go into the foor where that plastic piece is near the door seal?

any pics of this would be great!

When you trim and relocate your fenders would this herculiner be good to apply to the fender wells?

I like it, I'm trying to convince the wife that I should do this to her junk, rather than fixing the rust at the bottom of the doors proper.

Anyway, I'd keep a close eye on that CB antenna, that's an area that tends to get dragged along things for me.

Wow, no one said anything about this thread being almost 6 months old.

I thought about doing this before, but I just never got around to doing it, and my father used the rest of my Herculiner so I'm all out. My friend did this to his entire vehicle, turned out not too bad until it all faded to gray.

its a good thread even if it is a little dusty...

i have done the herc thing to the doors but for the fenderwells i used a undercoating spray you can get at autozone - a little taping to prevent overspray and it has held for a year now

thats what I used too. Eventually, I'll get some decent pictures of it to post.
