Anyone know how this rear tire carrier is mounted? Im doing a rear bumper probably next week... this week my front fiberglass is going on...

its mounted to the roll cage thru the rear hatch, you have to take the tire off to open the rear hatch

probably wouldnt be too hard to mount something like that to a tube bumper. just need the swivels and a lock/latch on one end. we have something similar sitting at my work...

Dirtbound, grab a picture of it for me if you could. Im trying to sort a few ideas of what i want and like that mounting position. but i dont plan on hacking my rear hatch... yet

will do, ill take a picture tomorrow at work and figure some way of getting it on here... haha.

ok so heres the one my boss has tacked up at my work, it was built for a toyota fj cruiser rear prerunner bumper but he lost interest in it. it wouldnt be hard at all to make one like this work on a cherokee, it has bushings on one end to recieve a swing and there would be a simple tension latch on the other end... hope this is helpfull....

If that were mine I would mount it up a little higher. It might block the window, but at least you wont rip it off on a whoop. Just my .02

yea that's gettin it. If something can drag or get caught on the ground, it sure will. I used to crew on a 1450 truck and we had to redo the whole back end because the tire carrier bottomed so hard it broke the rear frame. :wierd:
