I'm going though a 231 tonight and there's plastic ' spacer' or 'washer' inbetween the gears in the front of the case by the planiatary gears.

question is does this need to be there? It came out in pieces and was wondering if I put the case back together w/o this spacer would I be okay or do I need to get a new one.

I'm thinking that it was there for a reason, but then again so are the bearing that you don't use when doing a sye.

Wish I could help you but I never got any help figuring out my TC probs. Good Luck. If you need extra parts I have 1 1/2 cases in my garage. 2 or 3 extra of everything.

Thats the thrust washers, theres one more on the backside!

Does this mean we are not allowed to tell him that these are "required" parts!!!!!

This was my reply on the other board:

"As far as I know you can throw it back together without it as long as you don't put a load on it. In other words it'll be a over acheiving paperweight."

I havn't heard from him since. I'm wondering if he just read the first sentence and took off out the the garage to slap it back together.

It's not my freakin case, I was helping a friend replace his chain and I opened a whole new can of worms, it set's on my bench in a zillion pieces, and Scott, I did believe you, I just posted twice cuz MJ sometimes gives bunk info, not from you of course, but you know. I didn't get back with you cuz I felt that a bunch of beers would be a better thing to do on a friday night then wrench on someone elses junk.

And yes, I thought it was quite the sexy little piece of plastic.

So, to end this post, I went wheelin today and you didn't, :flipoff:
