Hey i am thinking about running hell hole this sat. if anyone would like to join let me know.... has anyone been up there lately is it clear of snow or pass-able??? let me know if you have any details about it
The road to the lake is passable. The trail will not be free of snow, and as it is cut into the side of a cliff at times, may not be very safe to attempt in icy conditions.
has anyone ever been too nevada city district area? i found it on the ca ohv site but all it said is that its open to 4x4s has anyone been their..... i am going to call on it tommorow to see if its clear of snow it looks alot lower then fordyce so i thought maybe its clear...... but has anyone ever been there
nevada city district area? got a link to the CA OHV site of that? I've never heard of it, and I'm only 1/2 hour from there. Htek is even closer, he would know, but I doubt it's anything good at all. Greenhorn if you've got 33s and open diffs or less, if you've got more I'd head to Moonrocks near Reno.
I think that link is just giving the contact info to the Ranger Station in Nevada City....
Find that map you ran across... But I am quite sure that there isn't anything in Nevada City other than the standard backcountry roads and greenhorn...
I know theres the chalk bluff staging area/OHV area for motorcycles up above nevada city. All the trail and roads up to highway 20 are mostly clear. i was out at the end of the bear valley and up on 20, even at the highest places, i never ran into more than a patch of snow. but anything higher, you gonna start to get into snow.
BTW, although the Chalk Bluff area is a forrest service staging area, it was built as a nevada city woods riders/forrest service joint effort. I believe its very low key, ive never seen it on OHV maps. But its got a nice bathroom, and unloading dock and everything. But i also believe most all the trials are tight woods trails for Dirt bikes only.
