Is there a difference between the 98 xj headers to 99 xj headers. Reason I asked is because I just purchased some banks headers and in the description says jeep xj 96-98 and I own a 99 xj hope I don't have to return them.

That link says 91-99. I have seen where mfg's say their header will fit through 99 1/2, but I have a late 99 and I don't see any difference between mine and the earlier years.

That's for the wrangler. For the xj it says 96-98

I think you will be fine.

*EDIT* If you have the later style intake, you may have a clearance issue on #6 tube. Nothing that a file on the bottom of the intake won't fix.

sometimes the problem is number and location of o2 sensors, that header doesn't have any so you might need to weld a bung on your down pipe

In my experience, HO up to 99 has the O2 sensor in downpipe anyhow.

I would think the only issue would be the pre-cat setup in the 99-01. That's the only exhaust difference I can think of.
