94, xj, 2wd, auto tranny, 4 door, 31s no regear, 15,000 miles on the engine with rebuild and 145,000 on the tranny and rest of the vehicle
ok i have a question about my tranny and its a little bit hard to explain so bear with me.
ok so at freeway speeds (anything over 60 really) when I let my foot off the gas almost all the way and am just slightly giving it gas there is a loud grinding sound and feeling. i can only assume that its comming from my transmission because of where the sound is and where the feeling is. if i let totally off the gas or give it just a little more it goes away.
i can also slightly hear and feel it at slower speeds but i have to really pay attention to notice it.
now the hard part is explaining the sound. the best way i can describe it is... ok you know the bridges and freeways that use cement with all the grooves cut in it? how the sound of your tires changes when you go over something like that rather than blacktop. that what it sounds and feels like. originally when i got my jeep thats what i though it was. it wasn't untill recently i realized i was causing the sound.
has anyone experienced this? any ideas? it doesnt seem to causing any problems yet. everything else is fine. engine is fine. tranny shifts wonderfully. thanks for your help.
