Grand Cherokee 5spd question

I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee that needs a motor and trans. I also have a very rusted out 94 Cherokee that has a good running 4.0 w/ 5 spd manual trans. I was wondering if anyone here has ever put a 5 spd trans into a ZJ. If so, how hard of an install.

I know I have seen a few, and that is VERY few AX15 ZJ's from the factory... I'm sure it could be done, but I would say hold out and find the right transmission.

False. There were 600 made in '93, and 400 made in '94. I have a '94.

To the OP, the swap has been done. Look around on JF I know someone did it there. They used everything from the XJ, most of it bolted in and I think the pedals had to be modified some.

Yes, 93 and 94 had an AX-15 option. Yours being a 93 you could have the rare AW4 trans.. does your lowest position have both 1-2?
