There is a guy stuck here with a dead alternator. He will be here till Friday when his check clears so he can buy the part. He is in the 24n rest area just past 495. I beleive he said it was an 04 grand with the 4.7 motor. He already got a battery from a trucker so he can use his windows. If you have a spare one and near by I am sure he would be thankful.

Are you saying there is a guy with a dead alternator sitting at a rest stop, and he plans to stay there for almost three days? Then his check will clear and he can buy the part, and presumably install it in the parking lot?

That's crazy!

Doesn't he have a credit card?

Yes there is a differents but if you have been out of work or just getting by you may not have any money left on you credit line. It is a hard time out there for some people. You seem to be bothered by this and I don't know why. Are you going to make the 6 to 7 hour drive up here to help him?

If you where stuck without the cash or credit wouldn't you like some help? I don't know this man and why he is stuck here just thought if someone had one laying around they could help out.

I know that feeling of having little money and being stuck in an unfortunate situation. my old jetta broke about 2.5 hours away from home at a truck stop in PA, thankfully someone helped me get it running so i could get closer to home. hopefully this guy is able to get the parts he needs and gets back on the road and home safely.

I'm just a mean cynical person who typically has very little sympathy for people who get into tough spots due to a string of poor decisions. We obviously don't know anything about this guy, or how he ended up stranded ..... but there is a high likelihood that he could have done things differently along the way and avoided his current predicament.

With all that said, I'm also the kind of person that, if I encountered this guy, would pay for his repairs and send him on his way.

Bert, how are you aware of this gentlemans situation? Parts source perhaps?

If several were to paypal funds to a parts store/employee we could get this guy on his way?

I have a spare alt in the garage, but overnight shipping might be as much as a rebuilt alt. Are the WJ 4.0 and 4.7's alt the same part number?

Is he still there?

I literally don't have money to give him right now, but I'll likely be somewhat near there and can give him a ride to a parts store or something. There are some junkyards in the area as well.

John, I am a trucker and was stuck at the rest stop waiting on a back haul. Now I am in Newark DE waiting to get unloaded.

Ken, he was there when I left and said it would be Friday at the earliest he could afford to leave. He called the junkyard but they don't warranty the part so he could spend 50 and still be stuck.

Jordan, I know you are a nice guy and would help. I also wonder why he couldn't pay for it but it was not my place to ask. I understand the reason you wouldn't trust him. I would not give him money but if I had the part he could have it.

Have a phone number for him? I wish I had seen this, I may have that alternator in stock and that's only about 25 minutes or so away from my work.

if anyone knows his # I have tools and time this evening where I could help. I just would want to know he is there before I drive that far.
