I am doing work on a Support Truck that races in South America and Europe and they want to get rid of the Honda 3000 Inverter generator and get a 220V 60HZ generator, but they want it almost as quiet as the honda.
Does anyone know of a generator that will do that? and is fairly reasonably sized.
This is as close a you will get. Nothing is as quiet as an inverter, but this is a nice unit with 220vac, small size, and affordable. Only the centurion units have 220vac, the orange Generac units are exactly the same but only have 110vac.

The only really quiet large 220v generators that I have seen have two things in common.
One, they are water cooled,.
Two, they are enclosed in some sort of noise suppression box.
Some of the RV generators may fit your needs however they can be very pricey and large. In addition a lot of RV generators are 110 volt. It is possible to find 220 volt ones but be sure before you buy.
Onan and Kohler make some units that may fit you needs. Usually by the time you get into a later model, quiet 220 volts generator they will often be diesels.
I would suggest you contact some RV salvage yards as they may have what you want and be a little easier on the pocket. Most RV generators have hour meters on them so you can get an idea of the use. I heard of a guy recently getting a very quiet generator out of a TV production van that was headed for salvage.
Google: "RV Salvage Yards" for possible leads in your area.
Or another thought is these are much more than you want or need and you may just want to step up to the bigger Honda EU6500ISA: http://www.hayesequipment.com/eu6500is.htm
