5.56x45 is what it's chambered for, will also accept .223 Rem. I've fired both through it. Weight of the rifle with loaded 30rd mag + 1 in the chamber is just under 7lbs, with the optic. This thing runs like a sewing machine. I had a friend of mine shooting it at the range, and I was standing to his 4 o'clock with my hat in my hand catching all the brass without ever having to move. It was a neat trick for everyone else at the range to watch.
