Correct. The park rules changed, all the creeks in the area must only be crossed at a 90 degree angle. This, along with some other rules regarding protecting the wildlife and plants, effectively closed the creek trail.
There are some nice hill climbs and other trails to explore, but it is mostly a motorcycle park nowdays.
I spent many days at that place, too bad the best part of the park is off limits.
I am slowly working to get a 4x4 play area at Frank Raines. I have contact a few clubs and they are interested in the ideal. My next step is to contact Stanislaus Parks and get them on board. I anyone would like to get involved in this project feel free to PM me.
Yea it's mostly hill climbs now. I was going to drive down to hollister, but it's closed this weekend for mud n yer eye. Probably be out there about noon. The idea of a 4x4 play area that close to home is a dream come true, if you need volunteers for labor I'm in.
alright Im going to come I believe, my cell is 707-477-5199 if you want to text/call me and meet up that would be good, Ive never wheeled with anyone from this site before
Awesome trip. Found the gorge trail, double black diamond decimate pucker factor, but made it through. Mudpit was very thick, but clawed my way through. Lost a coil on the wife's wj, but got that fixed. Sorry about the confusion, got the date right, I think my spell correct must have changed it to Sunday.
