Floor Replacement, Man what a job

Re: Man what a job

I thought the rust was going to be worse then I realized where i moved to, the south where salt isnt used. My old XJ looked like the pic you have after you cut the floors out, I remember once i lost my cell phone thru the hole in the floor and thought the carpet stopped it until i stopped and say half the carpet falling thru. I hate northern winter with their salt

Re: Man what a job

Sealer came in on Thursday. I will pick up some paint today. Saturday I'm planning on painting and sealing the floor and getting everything ready for reassembly.

I think Mark's coming over to help so we should get it done.

Re: Man what a job

Mark came over Saturday and we worked hard to get stuff done but didn't take any pictures.

The floors are in, primed, seam sealed top and bottom. I'm planning on painting them tonight after work.

Once again Mark came over and we tackled the last phase of the floor replacement.

We robbed a few floor plugs from a parts XJ and used the new plugs I ordered from Team Cherokee. Sealed everything up nice.

Cleaned up the rear carpet and while putting it in, installed a set of tie downs to help secure gear in the back.

Cleaned up and reinstalled the front carpet ofter removing some sections from the underside and extensive vacuuming. Also installed the lower dash panel, center console, all interior plastic, and the seats.

After we got the interior all buttoned up, we drove to town to get some gas and a few other things (like a milkshake at Sonic) and then headed home. XJ drove well and it felt good to drive it again. Shot some undercoating on the underside of the floors and then checked over Marks ride for a Pre-Crawl inspection.

See you guys in Harlan!
