I was working at a trash sorting facality in Escondido doing maintanance 8pm and there was smoke coming over the block wall, looked over and dialed 911 there was a man outside a industrial bldg on 600 block of Metcaff, red XJ and white VW bug , bug rolled inside and man went in, smoke coming out of the roll up door. I went back to my truck to give dispatcher the address and went back, flames fully engulfed the doorway. By the time I hung up units on both side are burning as well as Jeep outside. Hope he got out when I stepped away, I need to leave, nothing I could do. FD on scene.

wow man, thats crazy.

long story short... industrial buildings catch fire quite a bit.... keep insurance for ALL YOUR STUFF if you rent one, the building is covered by the owners, but your stuff wont be.

i used to work for an outdoor furniture restoration company, we had a tung oil rag fire take out over a million dollars worth of teak furniture.... and MY drill press i foolishly left there the night before doing personal projects...

not to sound like a ass but the report said they dont know if rebuild.... possible insurance job? and if so he should be shot for damaging a 63 bug. also Ted good song love bloodhound

Weird. Your report and the official report don't jive. You saw smoke and then they rolled the Bug in. The official report says the fire started in the Bug. Hard to say, but it does sound a bit fishy.

seriously---- you need to report what you saw to the authorities. if this was an arson deal, the Fookers need to be jailed. Luckily nobody was injured in THIS case. but fire is way too dangerous. and in many cases, its the innocent that gets hurt, or killed. not to mention the hardship the neighboring business will have to deal with. if this guy actually tried to cash out on a failing business by burning it, he got lucky. he could have very well be facing manslaughter charges among others. dont let this become a trend for failing businesses in a failing economy. report it man. i really hope this is not the case, and i feel for the guy that just lost his small business. i feel bad for him i really do. but if it is an illegal act, then punish the guy. fire? no friggin way. just take your stuff and hide it and say it was stolen or something. whatever. but dont risk the lives, and businesses of others.

i agree. and yes your right, the VW bug was notorious for engine fires. especially when that stupid glass fuel filter came out on the market. everyone put one on their bug and they leaked like crazy. instant carBQ. not to mention the fuel pump and fuel line was right next to the ignition. like i said, i feel bad for this guy to loose his business and vehicles, but if it is insurance fraud, he put the lives of many others in jepardy. even a firefighter can get hurt when on top or inside a structure fire.

i have had 15 vw's now and i can say fortunate for me never a fire but lots of buddies had fuel line cracks or like 2stix said the glass filters looked cool to most but they tend to break or leak. this deal just sounds bad especially with a witness here saying it happened different. id report that shit and get his ass locked up
