Hey guys. Just took a trip down to the Auto Skills Center here on post. If you don't know it's a full blown shop for service members to use complete with tools and everything for a small fee.

I noticed they have vehicle inspections here and so I asked one of the inspecters about lift laws. He said that the tires must be covered.

Got home and checked the webz, and it would appear so. Gonna have to make some

Also I can't be higher than 13.5 feet and my headlights can't be higher than 54 inches, neither of these apply to me, so not too worried.

Gonna have to find some threads I saw with cool home-made flares...

There may also be a restriction on bumper height, I can't remember. Yes Tires must be covered, although mine never were once I cut my fenders.

I was pulled over once for expired inspection. It was a motorcycle cop and we were both stopped at a crosswalk. He pulled me over, and we shot the breeze for a few minutes while he wrote the ticket for an expired inspection. He proceeded to inform me that in Louisiana it is illegal to modify your exaust in a manner that makes it any louder than stock. As with anywhere all of these laws are at the officer's discretion, so always be polite and friendly when an officer pulls you over because when you drive a jeep the officer can find a half dozen obscure laws you've violated...

Yeah I get the Cop thing. Especially in "base towns" where they do not usually get to deal with the best of Soldiers.

I'm gonna have to take my Jeep down and let them pick it apart while I take notes. One guy asked how high I was and I told him 4.5 inches. He interrupted me there and proceeded to scream in the shop area that my Jeep is yelling "leave me alooooooone!"

Can't really play the "I didn't know" game in the Army. The Chain of Command generally has no patience for that and you might get away with it for a minute, but it will come back to bite you. There is no split between personal and professional life.
